GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
November 15, 2018

The Meeting was called to order by Vice-President Kowolonek.
The Pledge of Allegiance occurred.
A moment of Silence was observed for deceased members.
Roll Call was taken by Delegate Boykin. President Anderson absent. All other board members present.
Previous month’s minutes were read by Secretary Wallace. A motion was made by Delegate Long to accept the reading of the last month’s minutes. Second by Treasurer Hoffman. Discussion: change name to Kerrie Goss for the member who made purchases for Ohio Christmas Family. Motion passed.
The Financial Report was given by Delegate Boykin. A motion was made by Delegate Loerich to accept the Treasures Report. Second by Delegate Long. Motion passed. (Financial Report on file at Union Office.)
COMMUNICATIONS – N/A
UNFINISHED BUSINESS – Vice-President Kowolonek
Meter Reading – Discussed the release dates for those UWUA Local 600 members participating in the severance plan, dates for release 1 November 2018 – 31 December 2018. Discussion regarding those participants with Lump Sum Distribution.
Annual Appreciation Dinner – Original date cancelled due to power-outages at venue, the date will be rescheduled, for a date in January 2019. Delegate Waller will contact venue for reschedule date and select menu.
Audit – Audit of UWUA Local 600 – was conducted 2 November 2018 at the Union Hall, 810 Brighton Street, Newport Kentucky 41071. Audit was conducted by Carmelita Perez, Holly McLaughlin and Perry Hill, along with Delegate Boykin and Treasure Hoffman. The audit process went well for the committee.
Election Committee - UWUA Local 600 – Election Committee meets, 30 October 2018 at the UWUA Local 600 Union Hall, 810 Brighton Street, Newport Kentucky, 41071. The Election Committee members are Mike Edwards, Robin Shepherd, Tim Nolan and Lisa Mobarry. The committee members elected Tim Nolan as Election Committee Chair. The committee meets with President Anderson, Vice-President Kowolonek and former Election Chair – Jim Deering (now retired.) Jim Deering has agreed to meet with the new Election Committee Chair, Tim Noland and Vice-President Kowolonek, 1 December 2018, regarding election processes. Post Office Boxes were obtained for UWUA, Local 600, and 16 November 2018.
Treasure - Training for UWUA, Local 600 – Training for newly elected Treasure Boykin will be provided by newly elected Vice-President Hoffman. Discussions with Matt Darpel and Don Stewart, to also review all processes with newly elected treasurer will also be scheduled.
Christmas Families – Chrissy Knobloch will make purchases for Kentucky families and Kerrie Goss volunteered to purchase for Ohio families.
Enable - Enable Arbitration dated 10-23-2018 – Settlement Letter (#416 – UWUA, Local 600)
Arbitration – Grievance #424 – review of process
UWUA - Letter received from National UWUA – dues increase. Treasure will send letter to company regarding notification to move forward for this adjustment increase.
Treasurer Hoffman – shared information regarding a local union that receives “low-cost” Last Will and Testament “preparation on an annual basis from union law firm that represents the union. Treasurer Hoffman would like to discuss with Julie Ford.
Delegate Waller – processing fact-finding and processing updates to reschedule UWUS Local 600 Annual Appreciation Dinner.
Delegate Boykin – AFL-CIO Holiday Celebration Flyer. Discussion. Post for general board only.
Delegate Long – EOC grievance follow-up. Fact finding 11-16-18. 2nd stage grievance-termination. Grid Solutions, WM Support- review for union/non-union work teams, review work –from-home issues, UWUA Local 600 membership – does not work from home.
Delegate King – Discussion regarding when UWUA Local 600 members would receive the payment of a sick check in 2019. Sick check is not issued until it is earned after the 1st pay period worked in 2019 for our members.
Vice-President Kowolonek – wants more involvement from membership and utilizing Local 600 representatives more in processes so they will know what’s going on in areas assigned. Letter being sent to all UWUA Local 600 members as Vice-President Moves into new role as President.
Delegate Waller made a motion to adjourn. Second by Delegate Boykin. Motion passed. Adjourned.
