GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
February 22, 2018

The Meeting was called to order by President Anderson.
The Pledge of Allegiance occurred.
A moment of Silence was observed for deceased members.
Roll Call was taken by Treasure Hoffman. All board members present.
Previous month’s minutes were read by Secretary Wallace. (Corrections to add Retiree Committee as name under new business and add to Treasure’s report – dues payments.) A motion was made by Vice-President Kowolonek to accept the reading of the last month’s minutes. Second by Delegate Memering. Motion passed.
The Financial Report was given by Treasure Hoffman. A motion to accept the Financial Report was made by Delegate King. Second by Delegate Waller. Motion passed. (Financial Report on file at Union Office.)
COMMUNICATIONS – President Anderson
Provide information regarding volunteer opportunity with Matthew 25 Ministries on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Discussed Local 600 members having t-shirts to wear with our logo if we support.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS – President Anderson
Retiree Committee – Jim Anderson will make a post to the Duke-Energy Facebook Retiree page for any former Local 600 member who may have an interest in joining.
Call Center – Local 600 members assigned to the Midwest Call Center voted 19-1 to accept the company’s proposal. President Anderson notified the company that their proposal was accepted.
Direct Deposit – for all Dynegy and Duke-Energy funds for dues.
Treasure Hoffman - discussed using stock that pays dividends, and using the dividends amount to meet assist in paying the expenses of Local 600. Treasure Hoffman will discuss with Matt Darpel. A motion was made by Vice-President Kowolonek to have Matt Darpel study the rate of return on dividends from stock and provide Local 600 with best recommendation and allow Treasure Hoffman and President Anderson, with advice from Matt Darpel make the decision based on what will work best for Local 600. Second by Delegate Long. Motion passed.
UEIP – A review of the UEIP payout by Local 600 member Steve Fisher and spread-sheet prepared by Delegate Boykin, found that the information provided by the company was incorrect regarding the earnings per share. Lisa Gregory, Labor Relations was contacted. The company will correct and provide new updated information. President Anderson has also requested a review of UEIP, earning per share for the past ten (10) years and will have the information reviewed by Local 600 member Steve Fischer and Delate Boykin to see if there were possible other discrepancies. As there is still a question regarding how the decimal points were used in the overall calculations for payout percentages.
American Income Life Insurance – the insurer would like to process two (2) mailings per year to Local 600 members. A motion was made by Vice-President Kowolonek to maintain one (1) mailing per year from American Income Life Insurance to Local 600 members. Second by Delegate Memering. Motion passed.
Dues Issue – the issue regarding dues collections for Local 600 membership has not been resolved. The company was again notified in July 2017 regarding some members not on list at all and new members who have yet to be added. President Anderson and Vice-President Kowolonek are working to resolve this issue.
Membership Meeting – the next membership meeting will be held, on Thursday March 22, 2018 at the Holiday in Riverfront in Covington, Kentucky. Information will be posted on the bulletin boards in members work areas.
Lawn Care- a bid has been received from a union member to provide the lawn maintenance and landscape work at Local 600 union hall at 810 Brighton Street, Newport Kentucky. Motion was made by Treasure Hoffman to accept the lesser bid from union member to provide lawn care and maintenance and landscaping. Second by Delegate King. Motion passed.
Engineering Specialist – discussed (Sub-Division)-Carl Shepherd – posted two (2) positions , meeting is being scheduled to discuss to positions going forward and rotations within those positions.
Grievance # 412 – vote to arbitrate – No – 8, Yes- 1
Delegate Long – discussed members need to contact supervisor when not reporting for work.
Delegate King- discussed discipline within areas and employees inquiries regarding wanting wage increases.
Delegate Waller made a motion to adjourn. Second by Treasurer Hoffman. Motion passed. Adjourned.
