GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
August 28, 2014
The Pledge of Allegiance occurred.
A moment of silence was observed.
Roll Call was taken by Treasurer Cockrell. Delegates Darby, Memering and Wallace not present.
The reading of the previous month’s general board minutes were read by Secretary Kowolonek. A motion to accept the previous minutes was made by Lori Warren. Second by Mike Hoffman. Motion passed.
The Financial Report was given by Treasurer Cockrell. A motion to accept the financial report was made by Lori Warren. Second by Lori Turner. Motion passed.
Don Opatka asked that Local 600 appoint a coordinator for the upcoming elections. This person would be made aware of upcoming election events and solicit volunteers for such events.
AFL-CIO Convention- The Ohio AFL-CIO will be having a convention in Cincinnati on September 16th and 17th. Delegate Hoffman and Secretary Kowolonek will represent Local 600.
Picnic Committee- Discussion occurred about the final preparations for the upcoming union picnic.
MTM Committee- President Anderson discussed a survey for the membership concerning the upcoming negotiations. This survey will be available on the Local 600 website. (IUUNION.com)
Arbitration #372- Discussion occurred about arbitration #372.
CPC- Treasurer Cockrell discussed the CPC position. The gas portion of their duties is being removed.
President Anderson discussed the sale of the Power Plants and the impact that this would have on our members. He is setting up meetings with our affected members, Duke Energy, and Dynegy.
Vice President Warren- She discussed instances where members have been harassed by American Income Life Insurance company. Our members are not required to return the card sent in the mail to receive the death benefit. This benefit is free without any action needed by our members.
Delegate Webster- She discussed non-call work in the Call Center.
Treasurer Cockrell- She discussed the internal audit completed by the Trustees.
Delegate Hoffman- He discussed Meter Reading and a change in the overtime procedure.
A motion to adjourn was made by Steve Kowolonek. Second by Lisa Webster. Motion passed.
